Laekenois of the Millennium at the LaekenZine
OPIUM STORY (A STAR I BORN)

I discovered the Laekenois back in 1988 and i immediatly fell in love with this variety.
I visited several breeders in Belgium, to finally choose the breeder of VAN KRIEKEBOS: EVELYN COMEINE.
OPIUM is born 12-12-90 - MAX VAN KRIEKEBOS x KANELLE VAN KRIEKEBOS, in a litter of 11 puppies.
It was the most tempramental puppy and he raised his ears already after a few weeks.
I didnīt want to go to shows with him, but after that EVELYN COMEINE insisted, i finally entered him.
Opium was at his first show, the 100 year jubileé of the Belgian Special, in Brussels (may -91).
He was only 5 months but won ower dogs that was 8 - 9 months old !
Already at the CC moment he draw the spectators eyes to him and especially the judges eyes.
That marked the beginning of OPIUMS carreer. He won the most important shows and most important
he created himself a extraordinary rumour. He has an impressive list of merites.
He is Champion in Belgium, France, Netherlands, Germany and Luxembourg. He is World Winner in
Schweiz, Bern -94 and in Belgium, Brussels -95 (in head of 40 dogs..) and also best Belgian Shepherd dog overall at this show.
He has obtained the title Belgian Winner 3 times, Amsterdam Winner 1 time, WDH Europasieger -95 1 time and
Bundessieger -94 1 time. He won the Natioanl French 2 times, 4 times the National Belgian and the National German 1 time
plus several CAC and CACIBīs all over Europe.
In working dog class OPIUM has obtained "selected workingdog" ( he got his CQN, similar the certificate in the French Ring)
and he is certified workingdog in France.

To EVELYN COMEINE, the owner of Van Kriekebos kennel and breeder of a number of dogs (she has bred several champions)
OPIUM is certainly the most beautiful dogs she has ever bred.

His carrer as a stud dog is as sensational as his meritelist from shows. He is R.E in France (see news at the LaekenZine)
OPIUM has passed on by heredity his numberous of fine qualitys to his offspring and he takes an important place in the
evaluation of the Laekenois the latest years. He has always improved the breed all ower where he has been used and
that is something very unusual. OPIUM is with no doubts what you are talking about when you are discussing Laekenois.

He is well known all ower the globe and there are many that wants an offspring from OPIUM.
To all beginners and young breeders: OPIUM is 9 years and still going strong and he is awailable for eventual matings.
